John has 20 years experience in the computer industry. He is currently operates as an independant software engineering consultant based in Tasmania, and has previously been employed up
to the level of senior software engineer in the Australian defence software engineering industry and as a national manager for Software Engineering Australia in Software Process Improvement.
As a developer, team leader and project manager, John has experience in scientific, defence engineering and commercial companies
in both Software Engineering and Information Systems with an emphasis on Software Quality and associated tools and methods.
Mr. Clark has been involved in the large-scale business integration of defence engineering companies. Responsibilities have included team leadership roles and the
provision of strategic advice to senior management concerning software policy, business critical systems and systems architecture.
Mr Clark has been a director of Software Engineering Australia (SEA)(National) and also of SEA Tasmania (SEATas).

Previous project responsibilities have included responsibility for architectural design, requirements management, development, software quality, requirements and configuration
management, systems administration (PC, Unix, DEC, mainframe and various LAN topologies), and project scheduling in military avionics, trusted systems and real time data acquisition projects.
Mr. Clark was a software engineer and a team leader on a contract to support the RAAF P3-C Orion maritime patrol aircraft. His section assisted the RAAF unit to become the first
Australian Defence Force unit to be accredited to the AS3901 (ISO9001) Quality Assurance Standard for software development.
He maintains an active interest in software quality standards and tools, including ISO 9000, SPICE (ISO 15504), The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and the Personal Software Process
(PSP), as well as project management techniques
In the SME sector Mr. Clark has operated as the Software Development Manager for a small commercial software company producing products for 85% of the automotive finance
and insurance industry in Australia. As a Senior IT Consultant to the Department of Education, Tasmania Mr Clark coordinated Year 2000 Risk Management and Testing, and. assisted with the acquisition,
testing and deployment of mission critical distributed applications for schools..
